Confirel, Khmer Enterprise and KSPA join forces to modernise Kampong Speu palm sugar

A joint delegation from Confirel, Khmer Enterprise (KE) and the Kampong Speu Palm Sugar Promotion Association (KSPA) recently visited Confirel’s factory, followed by field visits to palm sugar production sites in Kampong Speu province. This mission is part of the Palm Sugar Value Chain Enhancement Program led by Confirel within the Kampong Speu palm sugar producers’ community, which today brings together more than 130 families.

The visit aimed to review and assess the current condition of processing equipment and manufacturing processes used by palm sugar producers. On this basis, the partners intend to define common standards and prepare a plan to upgrade technologies and production tools for the next stages of the programme.

The lessons learned from the field are expected to help improve production efficiency, product quality and food safety, while strengthening the competitiveness of Cambodian palm sugar on national and international markets. This approach is fully aligned with Confirel’s long‑standing commitment to adding value to this traditional sector, already recognised through its international organic certifications.

Through this initiative, Confirel reaffirms its determination to work closely with development partners, professional associations and farmers, in order to reinforce agricultural value chains, promote sustainable processing and create better economic opportunities for Cambodian palm sugar producers. As the collaboration’s motto puts it: “Together, let’s develop the Cambodian palm sugar value chain to make it higher‑quality, more sustainable and more competitive.”
